Ali Alizadeh

Ali Alizadeh is an award-winning Iranian poet, novelist, critic and playwright.  Born in Tehran two years before the Iranian Revolution transformed the country into an Islamic Republic, he was schooled during the years of the Iran-Iraq War and its immediate aftermath. After immigrating to Australia he studied in Brisbane and then in Melbourne where he completed a PhD. Ali has since lived in China and Turkey, and now resides in Dubai, where he teaches writing and literature. Ali’s new book is a fusion of history, fiction and memoir called Iran: My Grandfather and is being published in May 2010. Ali is a guest at the 2010 Sydney Writers’ Festival.
